Louisiana Tech: Using Online Career Training Programs to Fill their Community's Needs
One of ed2go's goals is to build an alliance with your institution to help it respond to the needs of your students and business community. Serving unemployed or dislocated workers has been the focus of many of our partners as the economy continues on its track towards recovery. Over the last year we've seen an unprecedented number of requests for short term Online Career Training Programs from individuals looking for a career transition or to expand on their current skill set. The ed2go Online Career Training Programs are an excellent means to provide this training opportunity to address your students in need.
Louisiana Technical College (LTC) Region 9 has been in partnership with ed2go for over a year and has already made a significant impact with their workforce development boards and local industry. LTC Region 9 began this initiative by attending the ed2go workforce training presentation and working with Jennifer Lamkin, ed2go's Manager of Government sales. The following case described by Karen Burkhalter, Workforce Development Program Coordinator at LTC Region 9, illustrates the value of promoting the ed2go Online Career Training Programs and the partnerships that may emerge.
"Louisiana Technical College (LTC) Region 9 is presently working with the First Planning District Workforce Investment Board, and the other boards in the Region One Partnership to assist Lockheed Martin (Michoud Operations, New Orleans) employees in career transitioning to over 1400 layoffs due to contract loss within the company. LTC Region 9 partners with ed2go to potentially offer over 300 Online Courses and more than 100 Career Training Programs online. As part of the Lockheed Martin lay off transition team, they were asked to provide leadership training in the Six Sigma Total Quality Applications (Black Belt) program. Through this partnership with the First Planning District WIB, they were able to get the course(s) approved so that each trainee would be eligible for assistance.
LTC Region 9 and First Planning District will also continue to add additional ed2go courses to the approved program list so that the Lockheed Martin employees will have greater training opportunities when transitioning through the layoff process. The partnership among LTC Region 9, First Planning District WIB, and ed2g should prove to be a beneficial relationship for many of the Lockheed Martin employees seeking additional training."
Providing online, open enrollment, and self paced Online Career Training Programs is an excellent way to address the ever changing needs of the workplace. If you would like to offer the programs or want to learn more about funding opportunities, please contact your Account Manager today.

We last increased prices two years ago. Since then, we've been working hard to hold down costs and implement new initiatives that increase enrollments/revenue for our partners. One of our highest priorities has always been expanding the ed2go course catalog. During this period, we developed and delivered nearly one hundred new high-quality, engaging courses and have seen solid growth across the board as well as in specific areas like teacher professional development, allied health, languages, writing/publishing and business.
As recently communicated, we have invested in new marketing efforts that extend your reach; growing enrollments for you through online search, referrals and other related initiatives that complement and expand the main print advertising that you do in your service area. We've also made improvements to student communications for start date reminders and new course announcements that have significantly increased new enrollments and verification rates (paid enrollments). We will continue to invest in these areas and update you on the progress.
