Building Teams that Work

Teams are becoming a staple in today's workplace. In this course, students will follow real-life examples and scenarios to learn the components of a successful team and the stages of its development. They’ll master the skills needed to effectively manage team projects and realize there’s a lot more to it than just getting a number of people in a room together at the same time. Many of today's teams rotate leadership roles, so it's crucial to understand both perspectives as students learn the best ways to communicate and work together for positive change.

Students will gain an understanding of:
  • The components of a successful team and the stages of group development
  • Skills needed to make decisions, solve problems, and effectively manage projects in a team setting
  • How to avoid the pitfalls of unhealthy group interaction and minimize the causes of conflict within a team
