More Creative Marketing Ideas
Here's what some of our partners are doing to promote their Online Courses and Career Training Programs:
Whenever someone asks me about our program, I always mention our ed2go/GES classes and certificate programs. If someone has to cancel a classroom-format class, I suggest they visit our ed2go website for the online version of a class. I also have banner ads on our website and I put a blurb on whatever flyers I may distribute.
For the month of January we created two targeted emails. The first is directed toward our teachers. We used the "New Year" slant to get their attention. Then we share the top courses from the previous month, highlight a new course which we make the focus of our "In the spotlight" and then we drive them to our website. We follow-up this email the following week with an email directed to Administrators who can often be the group holding the "purse strings" for our teachers. In that email we focus more on flexible group discounts for teachers and the best way to spend money around shrinking budgets. Our target audience is certainly different then many colleges, but we really try to target our marketing to our customer.
Each time that someone wants to enroll in a non-credit course with us, it is always dependent on the number of students in the class and that determines if the class will run or not. You can hear the discouragement in a student’s voice when we have to call to tell them that a class is canceled.
Almost always, the classes that they enroll in is available through ed2go, so I encourage them to try an online course and I then let them try it out for a week before they make a commitment and it always turns out that they enjoy it so much that they register and enroll in not only that class but others as well.
I feel bad when they are unable to take a class, so this just comes natural to me to offer them an alternative, they are hesitant at first and when I let them know that they have 24/7 access to the class and I stay on the phone with them when they do the orientation they feel much more comfortable with taking an online class.
We have so many repeat students, that I get to know them on a somewhat personal level.
That is why I love my job!!!!!!!!
