$225M in Grant Money Awarded
The Department of Labor recently announced the recipients of the Healthcare Sectors and High Growth grants. With over $225 million in funding awarded, the grants will support job training for an estimated 47,000 individuals across the country.
While most of the proposals funded are focused on the Healthcare industry, other high growth industries receiving awards include Aviation Technology, Logistics, and Defense.
The grant recipients will work with the local workforce development community, businesses, organizations, and educational partners to improve the economic prosperity in the targeted grant regions. This initiative will have a tremendous impact on healthcare, as well as other emerging industries. Ultimately, it will provide local participants with an important step toward a stable, well paying career.

SDSU Receives $4.95M

San Diego State University, BIOCOM, San Diego Workforce Partnership, and the Southern California Biotechnology Center at Miramar College today announced the award of a three-year, $4.95 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor aimed at assisting the economic growth of the San Diego region's life sciences industry.
The Biotechnology Readiness, Immersion, Certification and Degrees for Gainful Employment (BRIDGE) project will provide education, training, and placement services to more than 1,000 veterans, incumbent workers and dislocated and unemployed workers within the San Diego region.
