Social Media Marketing Guidelines

In this social media-focused environment, it's important to keep in touch with your customers, or in this case, students. The changing face of communication has turned to social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter where people of all ages gather to keep in touch, find recommendations about products and services, and tell about their own personal experiences.

On the business side, more companies are now using social media sites to promote their products and services and allow customers to virtually sell the company's product or services for them. The benefit of joining a social media site is that it will help you get more exposure and create a sense of community, driving student enrollment and developing new and repeat business.

If your institution is not yet on Facebook or Twitter, now is the time! Getting started is easy, and best of all, free! It's a great way to announce new courses, ed2go start dates and program details.

Facebook

Simply go to http://www.facebook.com and click the “Create a Page” for a celebrity, band, or business link. Select Create a page for a brand, product, or organization and then provide a Page Name, and you're on your way to creating an official page.

Twitter

Go to http://twitter.com. On the right-hand side of the page, click Twitter 101 in the grey box. This will provide you with an overview of what Twitter is and how to get started.

While ed2go encourages you to join and stay active on Facebook and Twitter, we have established the following Social Media Marketing Guidelines so that we can try to ensure that students are staying with their respective schools.

Social Media Marketing Guidelines for the ed2go corporate Fan pages:

  • Do not include links back to your Online Instruction Center at any time on the ed2go fan page walls
  • We encourage you join discussions on the ed2go pages, but please do not use them as a platform for promotion. If you join a discussion, do not include links to your Online Instruction Center or mention pricing in your response.
ed2go has the right to remove any posts that include inappropriate links, pricing information, or other communication that could affect the ed2go brand.
  • We ask that you respect and follow these guidelines and appreciate your cooperation. The goal is to help drive enrollments to your school and keep the students you have worked hard to build a relationship with. If you have any questions about how to use social media for your institution, please contact Ed Philbrick, Online Marketing Manager at ed2go.facebook@cengage.com.
